Josh Fehr is the Head Chef at Dogfish Head’s Brewings & Eats. He comes from Northeast Tennessee where he first found his love of cooking. In college, he studied philosophy, which has allowed him to put a thoughtful and creative spin on various kitchens and the dishes they produced. His journey through the kitchens of Appalachia was marked by innovation, dedication, and a deep connection to local ingredients. Josh has honed his craft to become a chef known for his exceptional skills and creative flair. Starting as a breakfast cook, he has worked his way through the ranks to become an established Head Chef with an experienced and varied culinary background. He has since run a variety of restaurants, specializing in unique blends of wood-fired cuisine, Southern brunch, Appalachian eclectic dinner fare, tapas, and bar snacks.
Josh’s love for food is inspired by his family history. He comes from a long line of fantastic home cooks and grew up cooking with his family. His most prized possession is his Great Great Nana’s cookbook with family recipes over 100 years old which he uses regularly. His culinary philosophy is deeply rooted in his dedication to local and seasonal ingredients and supporting small businesses.
Josh moved to Delaware in December of 2024. He found a perfect fit at Dogfish Head where he shares their goal of having an “off-centered” perspective. He cites their creativity and commitment to ingenuity as feeling like he’s at home at Dogfish. Josh Fehr brings to the table not just his exceptional culinary skills, but also a profound understanding of the importance of community, sustainability, and innovation in the culinary scene in Southern Delaware.
