SUMMARY:Amish Outlaws
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:It is a little-known fact that most Amish practice a tradition
similar\nto the Christian “Confirmation” and Jewish “Bar Mitzvah”\
ncalled “Rumspringa” (literal translation: “running around”) in\nw
hich Amish children at the age of 16 have an opportunity to live free\nof
the strict Amish code of conduct before deciding if they want to\ncome bac
k and be baptized into the Amish church. Surprisingly\,\nvirtually all of
the youths return. But sometimes they don’t. Four\nout of the original s
ix members of The Amish Outlaws were born and\nraised in Lancaster\, PA an
d had a strict Amish upbringing. No\nelectricity from land lines\, no alco
hol\, no musical instruments\, but\ntheir spirits were too wild for the Am
ish lifestyle. Once they\ntrampled in the Devil’s Playground\, there was
no turning back. In\nthe years since Rumspringa\, the members of the Amis
h Outlaws have\nbecome very well acclimated to the pleasures and vices of
the modern\nworld… music\, most of all. Thus\, with a bold lust for life
and a\nfire for music and performance that can only come from 16 years of
\nrepression\, The Amish Outlaws were unleashed upon the world. Venue:\nMi
 lton Theatre.
